Chada
Katavi is located in a million acres of one of Tanzania’s
most unusual wilderness areas which is truly untouched by tourism.
The Katavi National Park of western Tanzania belongs to the wildlife
and the quantity of game is unbelievable – studies have revealed
greater mammal concentrations here than any other park in Tanzania.
On the fertile wetlands, vast herds of buffalo graze in their thousands
amidst flocks of water birds and plains game. In the rivers hippo
& crocodile battle for space & elephant emerge from the
woodlands by evening.
It
is not the easiest place to get to, which is exactly why it has
remained so unspoilt, but there is a shared charter service which
operates between Arusha, Chada Katavi & sister camp Greystoke
Mahale on Mondays & Thursdays.
Summary:
Chada Katavi is genuinely a wilderness bush camp with minimum impact
on the park ecology a priority. Accommodating just 12 guests in
classic style safari tents with private bathrooms to the rear of
each tent. The large mess tent forms the hub of camp. Dining is
under the stars.
Also available at Chada Katavi is Private Katavi which
is a roaming tented camp for true mobility to explore the remoter
regions of the National Park. 3,4 or 7 night itineraries to fit
in with flights. Private Katavi is only available on an exclusive
basis with a private guide and vehicle for up to 8 guests.

mobile camp.

the pioneers, longer safaris using a succession of fly-camps across

Rates (in US dollars):
$667 per person per night with a single supplement of $175. The nightly rate reduces for stays of 7 nights between Chada Katavi & Greystoke Mahale.
