Okavango
Delta – Botswana
It
was around the camp fire at Mombo in 1984 that Bushbuck Safaris
was first conceived. We were easily inspired – it is the most
magical place – we watched wattled cranes dancing in the distance,
a procession of game sauntered by our humble tent during the day
and we listened to the roar of lion each evening. We survived a
gamedrive in the first ‘argocat’ quad bike to be introduced
into the Delta – it all ended abruptly when we encountered
a curious lion around a corner – at eye level. The argocats
went, the camp changed hands several times, but the game just carried
on gleaming with health in this land of plenty and today Mombo is
the same remarkable oasis of wildlife which we so enjoyed all those
years ago.
Mombo
Camp is on Chief’s Island deep within the Moremi Reserve and
with the exclusive use of a large wildlife area. The gameviewing
is not only some of the best in the Okavango, guests at Mombo have
it all to themselves.
