Okavango
Delta – Botswana
Shinde
Camp was one of the original camps to be located in the heart of
the Okavango Delta. Owned by Ker & Downey who have been operating
in Africa longer than anyone – their name is synonymous with
excellence. This original camp is located on the edge
of a lagoon, surrounded by clear waterways which flow over yellow
sands and past palm-fringed islands teeming with birdlife and game.
Of special interest at Shinde is the amount of time spent on the
water in either a mokoro (local canoe with poler) or towards evening
in a motorboat penetrating into the further reaches of the Okavango.
The
Enclave is a section of the camp which can be booked for private
use – just 3 tents for a private party – complete with
it’s own boma and bar/dining area hosted by a senior guide
who escorts the party on all game activities.
Summary: Maximum of 16 guests. Classic very spacious safari tents, each with a verandah and an adjoining private bathroom, with stunning views over the plains. The hub of the camp is a huge tree house made of multi-tiered raised dining/lounge areas under canvas, set amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen, creates a lodge-style atmosphere to the otherwise classic tented accommodation.
