Family Safari Holidays in Africa
My safari highlights over the past 30 years range from a Trans Africa journey in the famous Catalina Flying Boat to the humbling experience of my first encounter with the Mountain Gorillas, but the best safari of all was just a few years ago, our first family safari with our two daughters. It is the most magical experience and a very special time together that none of us will ever forget. Everyone should take their children on safari.
Family Safaris need careful planning and we are experts on the vital ingredients & the best tried, tested and safe destinations.
Most Camps and Lodges have family accommodation – individual family houses – and special activities geared towards entertaining children – stalking, tracking, learning bushcraft, nightdrives are all favourites. Swimming pools are important during that afternoon downtime when the rest of us would be content to siesta.
Private Guides welcome family safaris and for large families or extended families including grandparents, a privately guided safari is much the best option with the exclusive use of private camps and vehicles and greater flexibility.
David & Robyn Foot on their riding safaris in Botswana and Charlie & Mouse McConnell on their classic safaris in Kenya like to bring along their own children during holiday time – this works very well indeed and it makes the whole safari experience all the more fun for everyone.
