Liwonde National Park – Malawi
Liwonde National Park is Malawi’s premier
gameviewing destination. The reserve encompasses the wide and scenic
Shire River, as well as quiet backwaters & lagoons, marshes,
open savannah and floodplain, mopane woodland & hills. The wide
variety of habitat in this small National Park supports an incredible
diversity of plant, animal and birdlife. The wildlife includes large
breeding herds of elephant. The birdlife is prolific and the rarer
species can be seen with relative ease.
Mvuu
Wilderness Lodge is the sole lodge in the park, and nestles discreetly
in a lagoon just off the river.
Summary:
Accommodating just 16 guests in eight large tents with ensuite bathrooms and private viewing platform built over the water. Facilities include a dining room, bar, lounge area, a hide overlooking the river and a natural rock swimming pool.

Boat
trips are often the highlight – a great way to approach the
incredible herds of elephant – and the night boat trips are
a speciality – huge crocodiles can be spotted, as well as
the nocturnal birdlife – Pel’s fishing owl are frequently
sighted.
