A safari destination in its infancy….unspoilt and uncrowded with beaches of dazzling white sand and turquoise ocean…some spectacular lodges are appearing - in the northern Quirimbas Archipelago, Vamizi Island Lodge recently opened its doors and comes highly recommended, with Benguerra Island Lodge in the southern Bazaruto Archipelago remaining an old favourite. There are daily connections to either from Johannesburg and indeed there are flights from Vilanculos (for Benguerra) to the Kruger. Also Vamizi Island Lodge is easily accessible from southern Tanzania by a scheduled and private charter service.
