Welcome to Uganda
After many years of safaris I thought I had seen everything until I touched upon this land of immense beauty. The drive as we left Kampala epitomised everything - the verdant tropical vegetation, colourful clothing of the villagers bearing fruit to market, immaculate school children, smiling faces, surprised faces, flashes of exotic birdlife and primates lounging in the canopies.
As our journey progressed, so the beauty and experience grew - from the spectacular Murchison Falls, trekking the chimpanzees of Kibale Forest, to the Queen Elizabeth National Park for great gameviewing and the best birding ever, culminating in the life changing experience of meeting the mountain gorillas in the misty heights of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
The best way to see the country is on a privately guided safari driving between the different wildlife areas of this gem of a safari destination. Both Charlie McConnell and Paul Oliver lead safaris to Uganda. Alternatively just come to see the gorillas on a 5 day fly-in safari as an extension to visiting Kenya or Tanzania.
