A country of diverse scenery, Zimbabwe is often a destination for those looking for an adventurous safari. Renowned as a country where the Big Five can be seen, it is also known for its excellent guides and walking safaris.
Private guided safaris
Range of camps and lodges from luxurious to classic camps under the stars
Bushbuck Safaris and John Stevens started out together in the mid 80's. Our private guided safaris began with John in Zimbabwe all those years ago. John grew up in Zimbabwe’s Eastern Highlands. His father was a keen fisherman and a good shot and from an early age, John accompanied him on many expeditions into the bush. John’s career took a natural progression and included spells as warden of two of Zimbabwe’s most significant game reserves: Matusadona and Mana Pools National Parks. John left National Parks in 1981 to build and manage Chikwenya Camp in Mana Pools and then in 1983 he launched his private guided safaris.
The unintentional effect of popular wildlife documentaries has been to raise people’s expectations on safari to unrealistic levels. It's not all drama and crisis in the bush. Sometimes the real joy is experiencing Africa at peace.
