‘Paul Oliver is one of Africa’s special people and one of the most respected guides in Tanzania’, wrote Brian Jackman in The Telegraph.
Paul is a passionate & experienced naturalist, photographer & conservationist with over 30 years of experience in guiding. In the 1980’s Paul was leading safaris in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro area, at that time he also pioneered safaris into Western Tanzania and took some of the first visitors to the Mahale Mountains for chimp viewing.
In 1992 he opened Oliver’s Camp on the border with Tarangire, a wildlife area he is passionate about – Oliver’s was the first camp in this area and the emphasis was on walking safaris from camp. From 2001 the Tarangire camp was marketed and managed independently, which freed Paul up to resume his wanderings and explorations.
Today he has become on of Tanzania’s most knowledgeable birders and has turned many a visitor’s eye to the wonderful birds of East Africa.
His enthusiasm and great sense of humour coupled with his special ability to communicate well on a great variety of subjects and issues makes him an ideal travelling companion and safari leader.
There is nothing Paul enjoys more than being with guests in the middle of absolutely nowhere surrounded by all the sights, noises, smells and nuances of the African bush. He prefers to use his own luxury mobile camp on safari whereby he can access the further reaches of the wildlife areas of Tanzania. The wilder, the better.
Paul also enjoys leading safaris to Rwanda and Uganda to see the Mountain Gorillas
A safari with Paul is priced depending on the itinerary which is tailored to suit your requirements and budget, and the size of the private party. Let us know your requests and we can design and price a proposed itinerary for you.
