Your private guide can be with you for the whole safari from beginning to end, staying with you in a selection of permanent camps or lodges or using their own fully staffed mobile camp.
You need not opt for a private guided safari throughout, however. A safari can include a private guided safari for just 4/5 days.
All our private guides have their areas of expertise: walking, boating, 4×4 safaris with a mobile camp, riding for example, and we often combine 2/3 private guided safaris in one itinerary.
A private guided safari is a world away from busy camps and shared game viewing vehicles with different guides each time. This is the ultimate safari experience, with exclusive accommodation and vehicles for your sole use.
Your private guide stays with you throughout, providing continuity and tailoring each day’s activities to your group’s level of knowledge, interests and activity levels.
Bushbuck’s private guides are selected from the very best on the African continent. All our guides are members of the Safari Guides Company, which only admits those with extra-ordinary levels of expertise, experience and strong conservation credentials.
They treat the bush with the utmost respect, sharing their knowledge and passion with their guests.
We ask about you and your group, finding out about you; whether this is your first safari or whether you are a regular visitor to Africa. You might be intrepid adventurers looking for an off-grid experience, interested in remote locations, exploring and seeking out new experiences.
You may be a family party with diverse interests including photography, birding, walking, boating and riding, wanting each member of the group to be catered for, while sharing the whole adventure together. Or you may not even know what you want and are looking for inspiration.
This is where our expertise lies; in sharing our vast knowledge of guides, locations and activities we develop a personalised itinerary which exceeds your expectations.
Chemistry is personal. All our guides are outstanding in their fields, but they are, of course, all different. Once we know more about you, we work out which guide is the best match in terms of specific expertise, geographical location and activities as well as their whole approach. You may want to build an in-depth knowledge of a particular species or area. You may relish spending evening with a gifted raconteur around the camp fire. It’s all about personal chemistry and because we have spent considerable time with all of the guides, we know their strengths.
Perhaps the best indication of our success is the fact that three quarters of our clients have either been on a private guided safari with us before or come to us via personal recommendation.

There has always been something quintessentially elegant about safaris. Ever since the era of the pioneering Edwardian travellers, when canvas tents with leather trunks, porcelain basins and brass lamps were set up in remote areas of the bush, the safari experience has been enhanced by the visual and textural quality of its immediate surroundings.

The unintentional effect of popular wildlife documentaries has been to raise people’s expectations on safari to unrealistic levels. It's not all drama and crisis in the bush. Sometimes the real joy is experiencing Africa at peace.
